“If you would train your children rightly, train them in the way they should go and not in the way they would.” — J. C. Ryle
Purpose
At Oak Grove Classical Academy, we know that fathers play a unique and vital role in the spiritual, intellectual, and character formation of their children. Rooted in the belief that a child’s education is most effective when the home and school partner together, our OG Dads community exists to support families, serve our school, and model Christ-like leadership for our sons and daughters.
Calling
Oak Grove Dads: Equipping the Next Generation
This is the work of faithful fathers: standing together to equip the next generation to think wisely, live courageously, and walk humbly before God. As fathers, you have a unique role in shaping your children’s character, faith, and love of learning.
Connection for Fathers
At Oak Grove Classical Academy, we recognize that fathers are vital partners in education. While we are not the local church church, we aim to complement your role as a dad and your involvement in your local congregation. One of the main ways dads fellowship and edify one another is through our monthly Dads Breakfast, a time to grow in faith, connect with other fathers, and reflect on the responsibilities of parenting with all of its beauties and challenges.
Over the years, our discussions have been enriched by books such as:
Reading the books is optional, but it can deepen your understanding and conversation. These resources help fathers engage in intentional, Christ-centered parenting and leadership at home and at school.
Get Involved
Our Christ-centered classical education thrives when fathers actively participate in school life. OG Dads can partner with us in a variety of ways to include:
- Coaching and mentoring: Lead a grammar, logic, or rhetoric sport team, or assist with academic and extracurricular activities.
- Event volunteering: Support school-wide events such as English Expo, Rhetoric Career Day, Science Day, or Field Day
- Campus involvement: Help supervise recess, chaperone field trips, or assist in classrooms.
By volunteering your time, talents, and leadership, you can make a lasting impact on your children, your family, and the broader school community.
